Chad spent his school years in central Maine and summers in Raleigh, North Carolina before studying creative writing and education at SUNY-Fredonia. Prior to college, Chad spent living a year abroad in Israel as part of the American Field Service (AFS) program. He has received degrees from both City College of San Francisco and San Jose State University in their Library and Information Management programs. He has worked as a librarian at all twenty-eight branches of the San Francisco Public Libraries, at City College of San Francisco, and several San Francisco independent schools. He discovered Quakerism here in San Francisco in 1996 and has been a member of the San Francisco Friends Meeting since 2004. He and his partner, Panida, love to roam the hills of Bernal Heights and Chad has been known to ride a motorcycle, play the drums, speak up in Meeting for Worship, and participate in other non-shushing activities.
