Oberman, Rich
Third Grade Teacher

A Speech and Communications graduate of San Francisco State University, Rich began his work as an educator as the coordinator of the after-school program at Schools of the Sacred Heart, and continued as third grade teacher at Stuart Hall. He has devoted three summers to the Lucy Calkins Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University, and completed Making Math Real training with David Berg. In the spring of 2010, Rich received the Herbst Award for Teaching Excellence for his commitment to excellence in the classroom. The child of a Japanese-Hawaiian mother and German father, Rich has a long-standing passion for Taiko drumming and is also a trained medic with extensive experience as a first-aid teacher.
