David grew up in Southern California always moving - playing soccer, swimming and running. After graduating from Pomona College, he escaped to the Bay Area where he studied Math Education at Stanford. He has worked as a math teacher for 20 years in both public and private schools and came to SFFS in 2009. He loves math and enjoys engaging young people in true mathematical thinking. David also teaches teachers and recently helped teach a summer course on “Thinking Like a Mathematician” through the Bay Area Teacher Development Collaborative. Finally, he is also a fierce advocate of outdoor education and has reveled in leading backpacking trips with the seventh grade. David and his partner, Eleanor, have two children: Aliza, in the sixth grade and Aaron, in the first grade at SFFS.
