Gillis, Beth

Fifth Grade Humanities Teacher

beth gillis

Beth came to SFFS with nearly a decade of teaching experience at the elementary, middle and high school levels. She is originally from Massachusetts, but regularly connects with Noah Bowling on the fact that she’s the only person in her family mysteriously missing the broad New England accent. She has taught at Oakwood School in North Hollywood, Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, and Town School in New York City, but always found herself drawn to the Bay Area. Beth has studied mindfulness and curriculum development through Mindful Schools and is excited to bring elements of this work to SFFS. She has a passion for social justice in education and has worked closely with the Gay/Straight Alliance and S.E.E.D. (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) communities. In her spare time, she loves to read dystopic YA novels, sip green juices, and practice hot yoga.
