emma budwig

Emma has had a passion for the Spanish language ever since she discovered it in high school. She has spent time in Spain, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico and the Dominican Republic and has studied abroad in Chile. She continues to immerse herself in Latin American culture through literature, film, and in conversation with Spanish speakers in the United States. Emma taught at two schools prior to SFFS: Achievement First Bushwick Elementary School in New York, and Stuart Country Day School in New Jersey. Emma was recently married in Chile, her partner’s native country. She feels lucky to have experienced some of the hilarious situations that can occur when two cultures come together. Emma’s partner, Mario, is working on a post-doctorate in astrophysics at UC Berkeley.
