Originally from El Salvador, Ester became a San Franciscan at age four. After attending public schools in the city, she attended San Francisco State University, earning a B.A. degree in both Liberal Studies and Spanish. At age thirteen, Ester began teaching Sunday school and has remained connected to kids ever since. As a teenager, she also worked as a receptionist and an intern with the Private Industry Council of San Francisco, a local organization that specializes in supporting low-income youth and families. Ester has also taught Spanish and served as an administrator for “Language in Action”, a pre-school and elementary language immersion program. In 2010 and 2011, Ester accompanied seventh graders to Nicaragua on their school trip.
