Caren Andrews

Caren’s family lived in Connecticut, Georgia, Texas, New Jersey and Maryland before settling in the Bay Area in 1972.  Caren attended Katherine Delmar Burke School and graduated from The Urban School, deepening her interest in the arts through after-school, weekend, and summer arts courses.  Caren received her BFA from University of California at Los Angeles and works as a painter, illustrator, and art teacher at her studio in the East Bay and at the San Francisco Friends School. She joined SFFS in the school’s first year, and in the years since has attended workshops on Quaker values and practice, Responsive Classroom and school diversity.  She is currently working towards being certified as an Arts Integration Specialist through the Alameda County Office of Education.  Caren lives in Oakland with her husband Mike and two daughters, Malika and Kendra.
